The Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania implements the programme “Internship programme for civil servants”, which supports the short-term internship visits of the Lithuanian civil servants to the related institutions of Nordic countries.
The goal of the programme is to provide civil servants the possibility to get acquainted with the activity of the Nordic institutions, to establish and keep contacts, share the work experience.
According to this programme in 2005 the officers of the Service went for the internship visit to Iceland, where they got acquainted with the Icelandic police structure, functions, objectives and operational statistics. During the visit the Service representatives visited the National Commissioner of the Iceland Police Unit for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic Crimes, responsible for international cooperation and pre-trial investigation of serious economic crimes. The delegation of the Service also visited the Reikjavik Directorate of Customs and Keflavik International Airport Police Unit.
Furthermore, in 2006 three officers of the Service were on the internship visit to Finland, where they visited the National Bureau of Investigation. The delegation familiarized with the structure of the Money Laundering Clearing House, which is the unit of the abovementioned Bureau, the results of its operation and legal acts, regulating anti-money laundering.
